The Back Story

Okay, so I'm really inspired to share some stories about Kyle & I. First, because he and I sang at a wedding today. Second, because the McCrady's shared a little of the back story---and I'm in the copying mood ;)

Hmmm. Interesting story number1:
Kyle and I went to high school together. He moved from New Mexico hi
s freshman year and I had moved to McKinney a year and a half before that. Now freshman year we did not know the other existed, but he did become best friends with my cousin Blake--with whom I am very close with. Sophomore year I meet Kyle in Biology class and we make the connection with Blake. My crush begins... So we dissected and frog together...seriously, no lie. I thought he was a dreamy 16 year old and he thought I was a weird, punk (did i forget to mention I was going through my "punk" phase at the time) girl who just happened to be his best friend's cousin. Anyway, I continued my crush throughout the year...sometimes showing up oddly with Blake or hanging around where he "happened" to be. Still, no look my way, and I kept crushing even when he played "Johnny Casino" in that year's school musical, Grease.

Well, the crush ended up dissipating by the end of that year, and Kyle began other relation
ships without a clue that I liked him. I moved on as well....at least for junior year. That year we actually became friends.

Next blog: Senior year....round 1.

Cleaning out the Closet

Boo. Today stunk. We cleaned out the youth closet. In the closet were cassette tapes from 1995 until 2005. Tapes of sermons....that were archived. We threw away a ton of stuff...but all the trash piles are still sitting in the youth office hallway. Overall, everything looks like a disaster, but the closet is super clean. I guess we'll get to the hall tomorrow...

November & the Gift Weekend

Well it's November already and my postings have been somewhat poor as in non-existent (though i have been blogging on the cake snob). And I just read on the McCrady's blog that this month is like the blog month. 3o posts in 3o days....this will be a challenge, since I'm already down two days I better get going.

This month is already jam packed with things to do and people to see...but I'm excited. The Gift Weekend is going on at our church November 14th & 15th. We'll be mixing meals for children in Zimbabwe. 25 cents is a meal and so my church has been busy raising money. We're also going to donate blood and cut hair for the Pink Hearts Foundation. I'm donating six inches of my hair...which I don't have that much to spare, but I'm excited. I like short hair and I think the cause is great! We'll also be making salvation bracelets that weekend and collecting Operation Christmas child boxes. Whoooo, it will be busy, but God is totally going to work through it.

Miracles Can Happen!

Wow. I'm very surprised and sort of in shock, but Kyle allowed me to get the macbook pro!!! I'm very pumped about this, since it has been a dream I've had for some time.

Yes, I know I sound like a super dork, but that's okay because I'm joining the world of mac!!

In other news, Kyle is in LA this weekend for a conference. I wish I was there, but instead I'll be baking cakes, cupcakes, and playing softball.

Well have a terrific day and hope your weekend is grand!!

One can only hope!

I feel like sometime I just keep writing down how our life is crazy...well, it's pretty true, but I know that can get annoying.

Kyle is going to a conference in LA on Thursday with the high school minister, Randy. I'll miss him, but hopefully I'll get something really cute from his trip.

In other news, my hp desktop computer died this week. We went to plug it in after it had been unplugged for a few weeks (we've had no internet--thus no need for it) and it would not even turn in at all. Nor would the monitor. Not sure what happened...but I'm praying for a new laptop...hopefully I can talk Kyle into one of these....Yes, it's expensive, but well worth it. Pray for a miracle y'all, pray for a miracle.

Me Oh My!

Okay, okay, I know I haven't updated in like a month nor have I posted any more house pics. Life has continued to be crazy as I am no longer working in the children's ministry at Cottonwood, i have transitioned into the student ministry alongside Kyle. No worries, this was my idea.

Now...don't freak out. This is a good thing. Here are reasons why:
  1. God called me to student/girls ministry this summer
  2. I get to be on the same schedule as Kyle
  3. I get to have fun with people more around my age
  4. I get to hang out with students and get paid for it
  5. I get to sing with Kyle on Sunday mornings
  6. I am still at Cottonwood
  7. I love this new job
  8. I'm running out of reasons....uh....we do really fun events (roughriders, laser tag, etc.)
  9. I got a cool CSM t-shirt
  10. I can plan events that are semi-zeta reminiscent....which is awesome.

Everyone has been great with the transition and Kyle especially is. I like working on a team with him. God is using the Creek Student Ministry (CSM) in an amazing way and this fall is going to be even better. I love knowing He is in control and has a spectacular plan.

I will be updating next week...but I am also starting a new blog (i know, i hardly update this one) called "The Cake Snob". It's about my pursuits in cake decorating and baking adventures. It will hopefully be awesome!

Hello, My Name is Jessica and I'm a "Summer-holic"

Yes, I am a summer-holic. Why no updates, you may be wondering well this is why:

May: House, Renovations, end of first year grad school
June: Myrtle Beach mission trip (Kyle), Father's Day, VBS, my birthday, Awhit's Wedding, 6th Grade Retreat
July: 1 Year anniversary, 4th of July, youth camp, children's camp, waco

And coming up this Friday.....the Beach... (cue: sigh of relief). The first thing all summer that I am really, really excited about. We'll go to Gulf Shores for a full week with Kyle's family. I love it. Book reading, good chats, the ocean, and seafood.

The house is doing well. We mostly just sleep there. Hoping to have a party after everything calms down. Keep me in your prayers...i need some strength for real!
